Randomness
Well, there's a bit of a jump. The holiday season has gotten the best of me again so I haven't been updating as often as I'd like. But here I am again, eh?
I had been looking for a project (distributed computing) that the 'family' (two Suns, a Mac and an AIX machine) can work on together. It turns out that my eclectic tastes in OSs narrows the field a bit, so far the only groups that have clients for all three are SETI@Home and distributed.net. If you know better, let me know. I've decided for right now anyway on SETI@Home, that's where you get to look for signals from little green men. I'll let you guys know if we find any.
But you wanted links, right? Okay, but they are a little out of date. Would society be better off if geek guys became hip urban dudes, or if hip urban babes became geek gals? This has to be the dilemma of the 21st century. What do you think are the top ten vanished technologies? Speaking of old technology the old-timey stock tickers, the ones you see pictured under glass bells in history books, were driven by electrical signals from telegraphs. They can now be driven by a PC and a serial cable. Also in the tech news, Linux bashing is now considered a hate crime. Speaking of large corporations and bashing, does Disney hate parents? And, has it really been a year since Bill Gates died?
Some good humor sites include: Fark, BBSpot, Untitled Document and XE.
Well, that should make up a bit of the lapse.
