No more Bug

It has been a quiet weekend so far, which has been good considering this past week. For those of you who
didn't get called at 2:30 in the AM last Wednesday — that orange VW Bug (aka Urge Jr.) has cranked it's last.

I was up in Durham for a little Fat Tuesday get together and was a little late getting back. I made it as far as one
of the Cary exits off US 40 before the Bug began hammering and slowing down. Bummer. I walked to a nearby hotel
but they didn't have any vacancies. More bummer. I roused out of bed one of the lads who lives out that way and he
let me stay at his place for the rest of the night. That morning another of the lads drove me out to where I'd left
the bug and I got a tow to a shop in downtown Cary, which is a nice place — but I wasn't in the mood.

A few hours later the shop owner told me I'd be needing a new engine, which really didn't (and doesn't) seem like
a smart thing to do, considering the car has a lot of problems with it. And it was even more bummer to spend a vacation
day in Cary while in a bad mood, wearing the same clothes you wore the night before and short on cash. I would have
been a lot shorter on cash, in fact, if it wasn't for the fact that I'd put dinner on the card and gotten some cash from
the lads at the Fat Tuesday dinner.

And yes I'm driving the Blue Toy now (that blue Toyota pickup), thanks to a great offer from my Pops.

Anyway — mad props out to Mr. Rational, Mr. Jiu-Jitsu and Depressed Kev who all were woken up really early; to
my Motorola cell phone, who's battery lasts a long time; and to Pops, who found me a ride back to Goldsberry.

Religion and Politics

Okay, I'm not sure what this means, but I found the following scrawled on a piece of paper by my bed:

Religious: Scientology as invented by Ayn Rand and the Islamic Jihad.

Political: Alfred E. Neuman re-writes Mein Kampf over a bowl of hash with William S. Burroughs

I hope this isn't some kind of weird insight into my beliefs.

Oh yeah, unsure on how to spell the names of organizations, famous people and things? Just type your best guess
into an Internet search engine and you will probably be directed to the correct spelling

Terrorist porn?

Is there such a thing as terrorist porn?

Randomness

I'm a bit under the weather, and a bit under the gun with my painting project (company this weekend), so
updating the site has been a little low on my priority list. So thanks to J for this next bit of insanity — and
may I say for the record: "I did not have sexual relations with that alien."

Thank you.

Quick Update and Quote of the Week:

Nothing brings people together like a naked fat man.

What a lovely domain name. If you are looking for more
light-hearted content, I'd suggest Spite Your Face, the
premier site on the Internet for Lego animation.

Mark your calendars folks, March 31 is
National Cleavage Day
(in the UK). Meanwhile in the United States, something
strange is brewing at Starbucks'
Phase Two project.

This is just going toooo far.

Fading glory

I'm always too late for the good stuff ... according to the New York Times
the Vegas tradition of show girls
is fading.
Speaking of fading ... what do you do with a workgroup server that once cost $175,000? Turn in into a
beer fridge,
of course! Ah ever more fading glory ...
here is a story about the rise
and fall of the Wizards of the Coast. I know, they haven't fallen so far as to
make beer fridges of their carcasses, but still.

Notes for 3/31/01

I don't really keep up with the console/PC gaming scene, but I
still find Penny Arcade's
comic to often be very funny.

The gap between updates isn't really work related this time, I've put Mac OS X on the laptop and I've been
spending quite a bit of time fooling around with it. Hopefully this weekend I'll put up my thoughts on the
new operating system from Apple on the Wayward Packet.
