Randomness
Well, I'm lifting from Fark again,
but I think this Salon piece is
just such a nice coda to that whole Internet boom thing. Am I using coda in the right way?

Randomness
Hmm, must resist urge to slack off...
Here's a little window into
what I've been thinking about lately. Getting a 128 bit security certificate is a little more expensive than a 40 bit
certificate — is it worth it?
In other news, here is some more information about that majestic game.
And here is a blistering editorial from The Register about
plans to make the real world just as Orwellian as that game.
Of course, what if they can make surveillance voluntary?
The world is a very strange place.
On the bright side, there is now a fool-proof plan for meeting women — be gay.

Freighter Cruises
I'm not much on vacations or touring (which is a good thing, seeing as I'm so broke), but I've finally found
something I'd want to try, vacation-wise — freighter cruises.
Ever since reading M.C. Escher's essay about
traveling by cargo ship I've been interested, but I never thought that you could still do that. It appears, however,
that you can. Cool.

NTf
I've actually got a passel of links to share, but I've spent all my time writing up a new
Wayward Packet. Check it out folks.
The big news is I've finally gotten my current dream toy — a digital camcorder. Be afraid, be very afraid,
because it is time for an NT Music Video my brothers (and sisters). All ya'll on this weekend's Lake Trip will get
a chance to see it, maybe we can stage our very own low-budget slasher movie.

Rocky Road
So ya' say you've heard the Rocky Road to Dublin about a half-million times? Well get ready to hear
it one more time lads.
Singing it this time are the Dropkick Murphys, a hardcore Irish band from Boston.
Check out some mp3 clips on
their record company's site Hell-Cat Records — these
dudes rock. There are longer clips of
some live songs at the band's own site. As a guy at work said, DKM is a very good sing-along-while-you-are-drunk band.
