The blizzard of '02
Sonny, that was back in the winter of aught two ... and scarcely a man is now alive that saw that terrible blizzard.
Aught two — that's cool. I'm doubting a heavy snow though.
Adequacy — simply the best news site ever.

Locked out
Well, I obviously do not have a future in weather prediction.
Last night after work I though "what you be nicer than a DVD and a pizza tonight?" So I went to the local Blockbuster
and ... locked the keys in the car. I asked the folks at Blockbuster for a phone book and dialed up some locksmiths. Three
businesses, ones with big yellow-page ads, didn't even answer the phone. I started calling the little ads and finally
someone answered the phone.
She said it would be $75.
Ha! I walked back to work, found someone to let me in, and called Papa (who has a second set of keys). All's well that
ends well — but so much for my hankering for pizza and a movie. And when I got back home, naturally, the Internet was down.

WWW isn't the Internet
The WWW, as some folks
like to remind us, is not the Internet.
There is a WWW protocol that runs on top of the Internet.
But there are lots of other protocols, including one for
handling the lookup and delivery of dictionary definitions.
Hey, sometimes even RouseWorld is educational.

Cult stuff
My New Year's resolution is to remember that the year is 2002.
This story isn't really the nicest thing someone
could say about Apple, the new
iMac and Steve Jobs, but gosh it really rings true, doesn't it?

Randomness
Now this company sounds like a cool place to
work — not many places have a company munitions locker. Well violence aside ... it's good to see Our Friend in the
Airline Industry has been keeping her web-thing on.
An artist and everything, who knew?
And yes, I've updated the Wayward Packet with an introduction to the RouseWorld computers.

Worst week ever
Wow ... worse week ever. This weekend is finally the end to the Nightmare ISP Switch — complete with a failing router
(why doesn't stuff just give out a puff of smoke and stop running?) and static IP addresses that were shared by us and another
of the ISP's customers (imagine being assigned the same phone number as someone else!). If you were unable to email me or
visit RouseWorld, that should all be fixed by now.
Okay, back to the links...
What is that, A
space suit for perverts? Hey cool,
that's my wish too. And an old link from an email list —
Some things are just so wrong that they
just might be exactly right.

Randomness
Are we back? I think we are back. It turned out that the problems were a bit more subtle than I thought at first and
a combination of several factors kept RouseWorld "off the air" for a while. Hopefully all will remain well.
The RouseWorld email should also be working again, I've certainly seen a big backlog coming in.
Our Favorite Wench sends us the link to
this interesting chart.
The Brunching Shuttlecocks are
quite good at
this sort of thing. The next
link
is a bit old, but still very funny. And from our beloved Onion, proof that
everyone loves 50-caliber rifles.
Do you want more slightly misanthropic humor? look no further than
Ape Culture.
Oh yeah, check out the new so-called exhibit at the 'Art Gallery.' I've even got a few pictures
of mysterious footprints in the snow ... spooky, eh?

What is gay?
If there is one thing that RouseWorld is about, it is pointless arguments over the meaning of the "g word."
Now, finally, we have the inestimable
Alison Bechdel to
settle this once
and for ... well until we
drag the issue back up again.
