Cincinnati radio?
I don't know if I've mentioned this or not, but North Carolina radio, especially when you are out of range of the college towns, sucks.
From the mindless junk in the morning (no offense John, and you rose above all that) to the same crap songs everyday, all day. These stations are programmed by the same kind of people who figure out how to sell soap. I've nothing against soap salesmen, but it just disappointing when that kind of thought process goes into radio. The college stations, on the other hand, they often end up ... I'm not sure ... 'trying to hard,' I'd guess I'd say.
So, aside from relying on about 5 GB of mp3 files, what to do?
', 'What I'm doing now is trying out WOXY -- a radio station in Ohio that has Internet broadcasts in several different formats. The station is independent and has a good mix of music, standing close but not too close to its slogan 'The Future of Rock and Roll.' At the same time the people running the station aren't college kids who hate me, so the music isn't cruelly unlistenable.
So far I'm getting a good mix of newish, interesting music with something familiar thrown in once and a while. It's a good thing and it isn't WKRP
The station's slogan also made it into the movie Rain Man, how cool is that?
