Radical Punk's Not Dead!
Yes, once again, it's time for My Favorite Press Release. This time it's from Johnny Chiba at Radical Records, who reminds us that Radical Punk isn't dead, it is just napping. For the complete scoop, read on.
(Some material edited for space)
(New York City) - "Punk's not dead, it was only napping", exclaimed Radical honcho Keith "Head" Masco, with the imminent, eminent release of the 5¢ Deposit CD We Have Your Daughter on November 12, 2002. Incorporating influences from the best Punk bands (early Green Day, NOFX, MxPx), 5¢ Deposit has developed a raw, in your face, Punk Rock flavor all their own. Establishing recognition by playing countless shows, placement on numerous compilation CDs and extensive radio airplay, 5¢ Deposit have made their presence felt at the Warped Tour since 1998, giving out thousands of tapes, CDs, and selling over 8,000 copies of their CD with no distribution and minimal promotion. Since the summer of 2000 the band has toured frequently across the U.S., running routes from New Hampshire down to Florida, New York to California. Along the way the band has played live and appeared on albums and videos with such bands as New Found Glory, FenixTx, Bouncing Souls, Less Than Jake, BigWig, HomeGrown, Dynamite Boy, AFI, Good Riddance, Against All Authority, Catch22, Useless ID, Anti-Flag and the list goes on and on!
We Have Your Daughter is chock full of punk songs about drinking, drugs and teens rebelling against their parents. It's ridiculous, arrogant, simple, loud, danceable, catchy songs that stand for nothing more than drinking to excess at a party in someone's living room and having sex on your friends parents' bed while they are on vacation. Punk's not dead, it's right here, on Radical Records.
5¢ Deposit play CBGB's matinee on Sunday, Oct. 13th (at 4PM!) with Mustard Plug, The Scofflaws and more.

Rumor has it, "Only Now" the first single from the band's CD Irreversible Trend, will be played during a segment where one of the Real World debutantes gets drunk and shoots dice from a very private area (this rumor was started by Johnny "Snake Eyes" Chiba).
