I'm about to get medieval on your turkey
The medieval site Gode Cookery has instructions on (sometimes exotic) period cooking and other subjects.
In the exotic recipies are a number of 'DON'T' notices. Apparently the medieval upper class sometimes cooked with raw liver/egges, caustic lime and mercury. They also seemed fond of stunts that would make the PETA folks faint dead away. The fire breathing peacock is kind of cool, though.
Interesting to me was their 'this stuff isn't medieval page.' Apparently turkey and potatoes aren't medieval after all. And although I had know that tomatoes were not eaten, I didn't know they were considered poisonous.
And thanks but the modern bread bowl seems tastier than the medieval equivalent.
