re: To heck with the music industry

They always tell you not to complain if you can't offer some kind of solution. Well, luckily Robert Cringley has come up with the solution already, sparing me the work. We didn't always have a Industrial-Entertainment Complex and we can certainly get along without the one we have.

I remember going to see two different bands, years apart. One was a big (at the time) commercial rock band and the other (more recently) some no-name sorta-kinda band that might have just hooked up that night to play together.

And Oh my brothers! -- the sound check of the little band had more emotional intensity and energy than the whole big name concert. Sure the big band had better equipment and more special effects, but the whole thing could have been done with Disney robots.

I hope for the future that Cringley points out -- less money perhaps, but hopefully more music.
