Just to show that I can practice what I preach...
A while back I did a DVD of a friend of mine's kid's birthday. For the video I wanted some background music that sounded energetic, yet "kid-like." I stumbled onto Stings and Things, a site with a selection of songs, loops, samples and sound effects. They wanted $1.50 (through PayPal) for a high-quality mp3 recording of Kitchen Cruisin, which seemed to fit the bill perfectly.
A $1.50 might seem a little much for a single mp3, but for a legal royalty-free bit of music that I can use in a video, it really isn't that bad. Hopefully the combination of PayPal and sites like these can help start a sane, legitimate mp3-based music industry.
