Happy birthday to me!
Well, today I'm 36 years old. I celebrated with a long quiet drive from Durham to Goldsboro, a nice Japanese dinner ... and a little shopping.

Spirit made it!
I'm glad to see that we've finally got a mobile robot on Mars. The Spirit probe seems to have landed okay and has started to send back pictures.

More tweaking

The install didn't go too badly and if this entry posts everything should be working.

Balloons
Last Tuesday I volunteered to look after a friend's six-year-old daughter while the friend was at work. We all met at the restaurant where my friend works and the kid got a balloon as we left.
"What a pretty ballon," I said.
"I'm going to give it to God," she said.
And she did to. We walked outside and she let go of the little balloon and watched it drift out of sight. I can't say what God may have thought about the gift, which is apparently a special ritual of children, but I was touched by her simple kindness.

Adventures in Movable Type II
Well, we are wrapping up the project that moved the website of the newspaper I work for to the Movable Type CMS. If you like, check out the new site at www.newsargus.com.
I'm very tired, but the reader response has been good — so that makes me happy. Maybe soon I can start my re-design of RouseWorld!
