Life, fate, etc. sucks
I'm having a bad day. Every Sunday night for a long while now I've been hanging out at the local Applebees with some guys from the local Air Force Base and a friend of mine who tends bar there.
This morning, I find out that one of the guys didn't make it back home.
He was one of the good guys. Exuberant and unabashedly honest but a thoughtful guy — with the world to live for. That's a cliché, I know, but it was really the case here. He had an amazing job in the Air Force, obviously good at what he did, but was someone you could hang out with and not spend all night bumping into his ego. I hope you've gotten a chance to get to know someone like him — a wit and a bit of a smartass, but at heart a considerate and good person.
So now I'm sitting here thinking — as I'm sure everyone is who was there — how could I have prevented it?
Please don't tell me that I couldn't have, I know all that. But you never want to loose a friend and you will always wonder if there could have been a way out when it happens.
And what else can I say?
I'm apologize for dumping all this on you, reader. It's just one of those days where I need to work out my feeling on the keyboard a bit.
Thanks for listening.

Thanks.
I guess I've been lucky up to now. Nobody I've know has ever been taken away so unexpectedly like that.
Sorry to hear about your friend.
