I'm a Producer!
I've been playing around with Apple's GarageBand and a tool called Dent du Midi. And I've been laying down some sick tracks, let me tell you.
The combination of the two programs allow you to play producer. You take existing music scores (in form of MIDI files) and put them into GarageBand's multi-track mixer. There you can tweak the instruments — all the way from deciding to use a pipe organ instead of a harmonica to adjusting the reverb on a guitar.
It's like I'm the guy in the control booth telling Led Zepplin that they need more cow bell.
Anyway, so far I have a way too tame cover of Wipe Out, a pedestrian rendition of Stairway to Heaven (on second thought, let me cancel the cow bell) and a truly insane version of Hey Joe (definitely not enough cow bell).
I'll post some of them, when I'm sure they are ready...
